Ice arrived at Ascalonian Settlement at nightfall. He was supposed to meet Fir here before midnight. He crept along the wall, moving quietly under the shadow of the buildings around him. He checked one of the tree she used to sit under, but Fir was nowhere to be found. He kept on moving until he reached the cemetery, where he found Fir standing near two graves. The writings on the tombstone was engraved with simple New Krytan writings: "A loving mother and a brave father of the Tahlzairs—May your spirits rest in peace." Fir knelt and placed a simple bouquet of yellow Daisies.

"I've been looking for you." Ice stepped out of the shadow, standing next to her. Fir nodded, acknowledging his arrival. He loomed over her and touched her cheek. Fir body's stiffened. She closed her eyes, letting a drop of her tears she couldn't contain fell on Ice's hand. Ice knelt, facing her. "I'm sorry." He touched her head and pulled her into his arms.

"No, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to let you see me like this." Fir wiped her tears. She didn't sob—just tears, streaming down her cheeks. "Ever since I lost my parents, I've lived on the street. Misery and darkness were the only thing I knew for my whole life—until I met you." She lifted her head, and stared at Ice. "Thank you." She smiled weakly.

Ice shot her a confused look. "For what?"
She paused before she answered, her eyes gazing at Ice's. "For choosing to stay with me."

Ice reached out to caress her face. Her features softened. She looked so vulnerable. It broke his heart to see her crying. "You know I will never leave you."

Fir pursed her lips. "Even if I leave you?"
Ice winced. He laughed when Fir rolled her eyes and playfully punched his shoulder. He quickly put back his serious face. "I won't let that happen."

Fir stood, followed by Ice. She took his hand into hers. She thought about the day they met, and everything they have been through. She thought about how happy he made her. "Promise?" She almost choked on her tears she's been holding when she forced herself to ask the question.

Ice squeezed her hand lightly, assuring. "I promise."
